Most of our courses will be available online. The only course that will not be available online is the Strategic Decision and Risk Management Practicum. This is a highly interactive session, where participants work in teams on a decision problem, so the learning would not be as effective online.

You may take as many or as few courses as you wish. No matter the number, however, we do require that all participants complete an application form and be accepted into the program.

The process takes two weeks or less. If you wish to check the status of your application, please log in to mystanfordconnection and click on "My Applications."

We offer courses on Stanford's campus in September, March and June, so you may attend when it is most convenient for you. Also, you may take the online classes at any time.

If you attend course(s) on Stanford's campus, you will be awarded a course completion certificate on the last day. If you choose to take the course(s) online, you must pass a test with a 85% score or higher to earn the course completion certificate.

If you attend the two core courses and take four electives on campus, you will be awarded the SDRM professional certificate on completion. If you choose to take the courses online, you must pass each course test to be eligible for the certificate.

Each course earns 2 CEUs. Participants requiring a Stanford University transcript will need to register for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). When you register, you have the option of requesting CEUs for a fee of $75 per course. Transcripts are mailed by the Continuing Studies department and take approximately 6 weeks from course completion.

The Stanford Center for Professional Development is a registered education provider of the Project Management Institute. Professional Development Units (PDUs) are earned for each course taken as part of the Stanford Strategic Decision and Risk Management Certificate Program to maintain Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification.

For online courses, participants must take and pass an online test with a score of 85% or higher in order to earn credit. Participants in on-campus courses are not tested, but we require that participants not miss more than a total of 30 minutes of classroom time.

Yes, you will receive course materials when you arrive on campus. Any additional pre-reading materials will be available online digitally in advance of the course. For all online courses, you will have access to electronic course materials and will receive any additional books after your application has been accepted.

The at Stanford course fee includes continental breakfasts, luncheons, a reception on the first evening, participation in all sessions, and a complete program materials package. The fee does not include hotel accommodations or travel arrangement.

The program is designed for mid-career professionals - both decision-makers and those who support their organization's strategic decision-making and risk management. Since strategic decisions usually are cross-organizational, the program serves diverse areas of an organization, including finance, risk management, planning, engineering, marketing, R&D, IT, design, supply chain, business development, and HR/talent development.
